God is Cruel

I used to be a hardcore Christian but the more I read the Bible the more I realized that God is not the good guy. I read Stephen KIng's Desperation which said God is cruel and it clicked into place. In the bible if says  Deuteronomy 20:14 indicates that all women and child captives become enslaved property:[55] As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder [Yahweh] your God gives you from your enemies. (Deuteronomy 20:14 NIV) God tells the Israelites to rape women and children. Deuteronomy 21:10–14 states: When you go to war against your enemies and [Yahweh] your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her, you may take her as your wife.
